FAQ

How can I get in touch with you?
I love hearing from fans! You can email me at me(at)kearytaylor(dot)com. I do get swamped with emails at times so if it takes me a while to get back to you just hang tight! I will respond!

Did you always know you wanted to be a writer?
From the time I was about twelve and first read Harry Potter I dreamed of one day writing my own stories. I penned my first “novel” with my best friend when I was fourteen. But it wasn't until later, after I’d had my first child that I was able to start writing seriously.

Why did you decide to self-publish?
After I finished writing Branded I tried for six months to get an agent who would then get me a publisher. I had some interest but in the end nothing happened. That was in the beginning of 2010 and I had been seeing ads for self-publishing on different sites. So I decided that I really didn't have anything to lose and went for it. So glad I took the risk and made the jump!

What are some of your favorite books?
I have to admit, I love the Twilight saga. I hadn't written anything in a really, really long time before I read Twilight, but something about that book woke me back up. I also loved Andrew Davidson’s The Gargoyle. His words are beautiful and it really made me want to improve my own writing. I also loved Nevermore, Divergent, Nightshade, Blood Red Road, Jane, and a whole load of other YA books!

I’ve heard this rumor about you… Are you really a Mormon?
Apparently people try to find this out quite frequently from the keywords people have used to get to my website. Yes, I am LDS (aka, a Mormon), a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Same as Stephanie Meyer, Ally Condie, Kiersten White, and a lot of other great authors!

If you weren't a writer, what would you be?
When I was in high school I wanted to be a nurse. I’d gotten my CNA, I did internships at the hospital. But then life changed and I became a wife and mother. So I will always be those things. But I would say that if I didn't write any more I would be a full-time graphic designer (check out my other site www.indiecoverdesigns.com).

How do you find the motivation to continue writing, and actually finish the story?
There are times when I just want to walk away and stop writing. But for me, writing is a deep love, bordering on obsession I suppose. I constantly have characters, plot lines, and settings in my head that come to life. And I always want to share these stories with my readers. They motivate me to see the hard times through.

How long does it usually take you to write a book?
I average about six months per book. This varies obviously but that’s the norm. I wrote Vindicated and What I Didn’t Say within a five month time frame, Forsaken took me about eleven months.

How old are you?
So I don't have to keep updating this: I was born in July, 1987.

Where else can I find you on the web?
