A million words that are me

I was thinking about something this morning that kind of made me smile.  I started writing seriously 3 years, 1 month ago.  I started The Ever Chronicles in July of 2008.  3 years.  It feels so much longer that that.  I mean, that's a slightly skewed number just for the fact that I've been writing stuff my whole life but nothing really serious until 3 years ago.

And then I thought about all the projects I've started, all the ones I've finished.  And I wondered how many words I've written in that 3 years, 1 month.

So I sat down and started totaling.  Here's the breakdown for you:

Ever Dawn (book 3 in The Ever Chronicles. Yes I started with book 3): 37,202
Ever Burning (book 1): 74,304
Ever Shadow (book 2): 6,825
Branded: 96,715
Forsaken: 76,119
Eden: 110,688
Vindicated (current): 44,845
Small, random projects total: 6,442

GRAND TOTAL: 453,140

That is a lot of words in 3 years, 1 month.

I love writing.  It pulled me out of depression.  Each one of those words was a step back into a better place for me.  For quite a while I was afraid that if I stopped writing I would go back into that dark place.  I'm not afraid of that anymore, but that sure as heck doesn't mean that I will stop writing.

Someday, I hope to get that word count over a million.  I like that goal:

A million words that are me.

That is so amazing Keary! How freaky I was going to email you to ask you how many words Eden was? I love the feel of your book, the size, everything it such great quality. This Life is going to be be approx 90k so it gave me a real nice view on how my end product will look.

I know completely how therapeutic writing can be, I started writing seriously because I was in a really stressful place. We cant have children and have been trying for 7 years and while I was going through our 6th IVF attempt, I used reading and writing as a form of escapism. It has made me so happy because this is the one thing I can have complete control over.

Don't your fingers hurt!? Hahaha. Thank goodness for computers, can you imagine writing all that by hand?! You'd have popeye forearms! (or at least on one arm)
Seriously though, that really is amazing and even more wonderful that you have found something you so passionately love and are good at and can make some $ with :)
