NEW FALL OF ANGELS COVERS!

I've thought about redesigning the covers for the Fall of Angels for a while now.  While I DO love the old covers, they are pretty boring, flat, and just too black.  But for a very long time I couldn't think of anything I wanted to do differently.  And I didn't want to totally scrap the images I've used in the old covers.  Partly because I love them, and partly for branding reasons.  A LOT of people have downloaded at least one of the books, and a lot of other people have at least seen the covers.  I wanted people to be able to still recognize the covers.

I don't even remember what I was looking at, something on Pintrest I think.  But it all of the sudden hit me!  I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  I was in the parking lot of Costco, waiting for my husband to come out, so I grabbed a notebook out of my purse and started frantically sketching (they are bad... I seriously can't draw).  The next day I sat down with Photoshop to make my latest creation.

So without further ado, here are the new covers for the FALL OF ANGELS trilogy!

All together now!

So what do you guys think?  Like them?

Another Cover Reveal?

Yeah... so I feel a little weird, doing ANOTHER cover reveal, just the day after I revealed the cover for What I Didn't Say...  But really, you know me, I can't wait, and I really don't see much reason to wait.

So, a while back I did a reveal of the cover for the combined version of the entire Fall of Angels series.  It's been out for a little bit now, like 2 weeks or something.  And I really just haven't been pushing it.  I didn't really want to push it, or show it off.  I was a little embarassed by it.  It took me a while to realize why.

I hated it's cover.

Hated it.

And that's a huge problem for me.  As you know, I'm a wee bit obsessed about covers.  I know how important they are.  And mine sucked.

So, I decided to fix that problem.

Without further ado, the new cover for the entire Fall of Angels series!

I am sooo much happier with how it turned out!  I hope you all like it too!

Synopsis:

With over 34,000 copies sold in 2011, don’t miss out on this special edition heart-pounding trilogy that pushes the boundaries between good and evil and what one is willing to do to save the person they love. Includes the entire Fall of Angels trilogy: BRANDED, FORSAKEN, VINDICATED, and novelette, AFTERLIFE.

Plagued by nightmares of angels all her life, but left with the scars to prove they’re more than dreams, Jessica has hidden herself away from the world on the shores of Lake Samish, Washington. But when caring but almost too-perfect-to-be-true Alex, and beautiful yet terrifying Cole enter her life, everything about Jessica’s world is about to change. She’ll learn that the angels aren’t content to stay in her dreams any longer and they’ll do anything to drag her into their world. The lines between right and wrong will be blurred as she fights to cling to the life she’s built and the love she’ll find.

I'm still working on getting the paperback version switched, it will probably take a week or so, so for now this is only on the digital editions.  So tell your friends, tell your neighbors!

VINDICATED's Cover!

I am very excited to FINALLY reveal the cover for VINDICATED, the last book in the Fall of Angels series!

Man, I thought this one was going to kill me.  Things just weren't working right but I wasn't sure what felt wrong.  After some suggestions from some amazing people ;) I finally got it and am really happy with how it turned out!

Now I just can't wait for you all to read it November 29th!

Wasting Time

I've really, really been missing the world of Eden lately.  I really sank myself into Eve, Avian, and West's world and it's been hard being out of it again.  So to put myself back in it just a little bit I've been wasting time today with fake covers ;)

Don't worry, I'm not planning to replace my amazing eye cover, just needed to clear my head today with a little graphic design!

EDEN'S COVER!!

I've been really nervous and really excited all at the same time to present the new cover for EDEN!  I've been thinking about this cover since before I even wrote a single word of Eden back in July of last year and I am THRILLED at how it has turned out!  A huge THANK YOU to Elle Merritt, who created this amazing image!  So without further ado, Eden's cover!

And now the full cover:

(click on the image for larger size)

The description on the back cover may or may not change, I'm not quite sure about it yet.  But basically, that's it!  I am sooo happy with how it turned out!

So if you'd like, help spread the cover around!  Eden will be coming out in about a month (still not solid on the release date yet).  And remember, if you would like to be included in the blog tour, please get in contact with me at my email me@kearytaylor.com.  And don't forget to add Eden on Goodreads HERE.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Graphic Design Stuff 3

It's been a while since I've done a graphic design post and since I don't have anything planned for the next day or two, this seemed like a good time to share some of my new creations!

Poster for Jenni Merritt's WIP Prison Nation, a YA dystopian that is shaping up awesome!
Slow Burn cover for the lovely E.B. Walters.  A few minor changes have been made to the cover and I just finished the full spread but the author has not yet released the changes so I will post the full in my next graphic design post.

Someday I will get tired of making up mock covers for Eden.  It's just too fun though... lol

I won't say too much about these three...  But they were a lot of fun to figure out how to do!

Out of boredom one night I set to making a mock cover for Jenni.  I found this amazing image but sadly we can't obtain rights to it so that's all it is, a mock up.
This is the cover that Jenni is thinking she will use.  We actually worked on this one together.  I created the grungy background, she did the barbed wire.  I helped with the fonts.  I think it turned out awesome!
For those who don't know (which is probably most of you) our family owns and runs the golf course here on Orcas Island.  We decided to re-design our rack cards for this year and this is what I came up with!

And finally, since I have started talking to the artist about getting rights to this image, I've been fixing up the original cover of Eden.  I'm still working on the back cover but should I decide to self-publish it, I think this is what the cover will be.  It's not a ton different, it's just fixed up some.

I still plan to do a post on my new graphic design website and all that sometime this week but here's that website again.  I still need to get an actual domain, sometime I'll get it all together, lol.

Almost there...!

Alright, I feel great.  I finished formatting Forsaken yesterday and wrapped the cover up this morning.  I submitted the files and am now waiting for them to be approved.  As soon as I get word back, as long as there are no issues, I will order the proof copy and have it in hand in a week or so!  YAY!  I'm trying to push this as quick as I can cause I'm hoping to be able to get copies for myself by Christmas.

Here for your enjoyment is the full cover of Forsaken, front, back, and spine!

And just the front cover with the few adjustments I made:

Branded Photoshoot!

I'm not sure why I haven't done this sooner.  All of the pictures Jenni took for the Branded photoshoot were amazing, it was a close call between a few of them.  So, I wanted to share them with all of you!

This one was the biggest contender for the cover: It's just beautiful!

And once again, the photo I chose and the new Branded cover:

Aren't they all amazing!  *sigh*  Thanks again Jenni for helping me out with this (and now the Forsaken cover too)!

Forsaken Excitement!

I'm finally starting to feel like I'm wrapping things up with Forsaken.  Geesh, it's only taken me about a year to get to this point...  There's still quite a bit to do but it's finally getting there.  I'm over a third of the way done with the rewrite of the first half and at the rate I'm going I should be done in less than 3 weeks with it.  That will give me plenty of time to finish up all the edits.  I got the idea that it would be really nice to have everything done before Christmas so I can give a few ARC's as Christmas gifts to a few people.

Also, I'm working on the book trailer for it as well.  This one is tough for some reason.  I can't find any music I'm very happy with for some reason.  I think all the images I've gotten together for it are pretty good though.

Another thing, I've been working on the cover!  I've enlisted Jenni to help me again and it's coming along very nicely.  I am in love with the cover image and Jenni just keeps making it more and more amazing!

So, I'm thinking of trying to do a big November 1st reveal.  If I can get everything done in time, wrap up the cover and trailer, I want to do a big show off on here.  That will also be my kick off to the blog tour.  It's so exciting, there is so much happening lately with writing stuff, it's great!

For your enjoyment, the Branded trailer:

Branded Cover

As I mentioned before, I am planning on redoing the cover for Branded.  I managed to convince my wonderful friend Jenni to do a photoshoot for me and get a great cover pic.  The shoot is on Sunday and I can't wait to see what she comes up with!!!  I'm starting to play around with designs as to how I want to have the rest of the cover to look.  I'm debating changing up the font for the main title and subtitle but can't decide.  In the great computer crash I lost all my fonts, including the original for Branded.  I went to download it again but it seems to be unavailable now or something so I can't even test it out till I can get all the files taken off my old computer.  So, this is what I have come up with so far:

And yes, I drew those wings myself.  They would have turned out much better if I still had my touchscreen laptop... ggrrr...  The real image will be very shadowed and black instead of white so it will be consistent with the rest.  And it will be much more focused in on just the shoulder and her neck.  I will continue to play around with it until I find something I love.  But what do you think?

Covers and Updates

I've been playing in Photoshop again...

An update:

Considering that the agent who had the full decided to pass I think I'm going to upload the revised version of Branded soon.  There is still the one agent who has the first 50 pages but I'm not really counting on anything happening from that so I think it's time to move on again.  I'll start working on formatting it today or Monday.

I was talking to my husband last night about what he thinks I should be focusing my attention on.  I feel torn between Forsaken and Eden.  He thinks I need to work on Eden for the time being.  It's what I'm passionate about right now and as he pointed out, I'm so driven right now to get an agent and that just isn't happening with Branded and certainly won't happen with Forsaken.  He also pointed out that I published Branded back in March and normally it's about a year between releases.  So, I'm taking the pressure off of myself to finish Forsaken right away.  You're just going to have to wait!  lol  I won't make you wait forever though.  Once I feel ready to work on it again, I will.  For now I'm pushing it out of my mind and moving on.

I am thinking about redoing the cover for Branded again though.  I want to find a picture of a real person and then go from there.  My husband isn't too fond of how much skin is shown in my one now... lol.  I can't blame him.  So, we'll see what I'm come up with.

So, don't panic.  Forsaken is still coming!  I may even try and come up with a creative way that those of you who are dying for it can read it... hum... we'll see how things work out.  But for now, it's onward with Eden.  BTW, I would LOVE, LOVE if you would check it out for me and let me know what you think!  It's on my website http://www.kearytaylor.com/.  Have a great day all!

Awesome covers and posters!

Here's a few new covers I came up with:

A different version of the Eden cover, doesn't exactly fit but I thought it was kind of cool in the end.  And then the new Forsaken cover.  It's still just a preliminary but it is pretty close to how I will have the graphic designer do it.  It was weird, the day after I did this I saw a guy who looked exactly like the guy in the picture.  I was very tempted to ask if I could take a picture of his back... lol

More awesome pictures by my awesome friend Jenni for Forsaken!

Isn't this one awesome!

So dark and sinister, and awesome!

My Other Goal In Life

Besides being an actual published author, someday I would love to go back to school to get a degree in graphic design.  I love playing around in photoshop (even though my knowledge of how to use it is VERY limited...) and create different things.  I always create preliminary covers for whatever I'm working on.  So here's the covers I created for different things.

This one is by far my favorite of the covers I've created.  I actually got some work done today on Eden!  I'm so anxious to get working on this heavy.  Soon!
The is the original cover I created for Branded, back when the series was "Angel's Falling".  I still love the cover for this.  Secretly (not so secretly now...) I would love to get wings tattooed on my back in white ink, though not nearly as big as these.

This is the preliminary cover for Forsaken.  I will have the graphic designer do it a bit differently though.  I want a man's bare shoulder to be just visible with the wings trailing down next to it.

I don't think I'll post my covers for The Ever Chronicles.  They are pretty basic.  If you want to see them you can go to my web site and check them out.  http://www.kearytaylor.com/.

These are some covers someone asked me to do for her short stories.

*Please note*  I DO NOT own the images for pretty much all of these.  They are just things I have found on the internet and will never be used in a professional setting or used for sale.

So there you have it, my other little passion that keeps me entertained!

Preview of Forsaken cover

Here is the cover for Forsaken that I hashed together. This ISN'T the real cover but it is close to how I will have the graphic designer do it.

Updated cover

Here's the redesign of the wings. I LOVE what he's done! I can't wait to see what he comes up with for the X in the back of her neck!

The beginnings of my cover

The graphic designer is working away at my cover. I've had him make some changes but this is the beginnings of the cover. He's changing the shape of the wings and darkening the scar. Then he still needs to add the X into her neck. I threw the text into there to try and figure out where I want it placed. What do you think?

Update

I've finished my final edit of Branded. Hurray! I HATE editing! It depresses me for some reason. Glad it's over! On more exciting news, I've found a graphic designer! I think he's going to do a great job and I can't wait to see what he can come up with! He thinks he can have it done in the next two weeks or sooner.

I'm a little worried about what I have to post the price on my book as. Because Amazon does the printing and the posting of it they take a big cut and if you make it available for distribution to major bookstores and such it makes your cut even more. If I do have it available to distributors other than Amazon I have to have the price at $13.99 and I only make $0.21 on each book! So basically I'm just making it so I don't lose any money on it... sigh... That's so much for a paperback book. I would have a hard time justifying paying that for a paperback. So, I'm really hoping this guy makes a killer cover for me to help with the sales. They say "don't judge a book by it's cover" but you can't help but do that. I do. First impressions are everything.

So I'm hoping I can have a copy of my book in hand in the next month or so. I'm not sure how long Amazon takes to print it once I submit it. Anyway... really exciting that I will have it in hand soon!

Book Covers

So here are some book covers I made up. All the titles are VERY subject to change. Let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions!
