So I'm taking a little bit of a break from writing for the moment while I complete this final edit of Branded. I've written the first 5 and a half chapters of Forsaken but it's going to have to wait a little bit. I have to get into a certain mindset when I'm editing and I just can't seem to do any heavy writing and be in the right frame of mind. So, it's on break for a little bit. I'm almost half way done with the editing.

I'm feeling really overwhelmed in the self-publishing thing. The actual getting it into print isn't going to be that bad. It's the marketing and getting it out there that I feel TOTALLY lost! I don't even know where to start! This too may put off some more writing of Forsaken. Or rather make it slow anyway, won't completely stop it.

This seems to always happen to me, just when I finish a book and get going on the second, I get another idea for another book I want to start. That's what happened with Branded. I got the idea for it when I was working on the second book in The Ever Chronicles, Ever Shadow. This would be my first true YA novel. The gist of it having to do with a ranch in Wyoming, the seven deadly sins, and a Taylor Swift song (kind of pathetic I know...). Anyway, who knows when I will get to that. But I'm excited about it and anxiously plotting away and imagining.

Figured it out (?)

I'm still slightly undecided but I think I'm going to start working on this new project I have come up with. I keep trying to go back to the second book in The Ever Chronicles but I just feel like its not quite the right time to continue with that project. I will finish it and my goal is to be done with it before the end of the year (at least a first draft) but I feel like I should dive headlong into my new project. I am a bit overwhelmed by starting something from scratch again but I think part of that has been because I haven't really committed to it yet. I'll try and post it as I go along on my website http://www.kearytaylor.com/ so keep an eye out for it!

Undecided

So I'm trying to decide what to work on now. I have a new project I kind of started. I've only got about the first 5 or 6 pages but I'm really excited where this could take me. But to be honest I'm really daunted by looking into the face of a whole new project where I'm starting completely from scratch again. I have also started the second book in The Ever Chronicles, Ever Shadow (name is VERY subject to change) but I'm a bit hesitant to put too much work into this project if I can't get an agent for the first one. My third option is to start working on the third book again, Ever Dawn (again, subject to change) but in a different way. This is where I originally started the series and I'm considering re-writing this book so it's the beginning again. It would actually make it so this wasn't a series any more most likely. My other option is to re-write Ever Burning again and try and make it more sellable. This is my last option though. At the moment I think I'm going to work on the third book so it would easily be convertible either way. Ugh... I wish I could just get an agent to sign Ever Burning and not have to worry about it! Unfortunately life isn't that easy.

New Covers

Not that it matters one little bit but I redesigned the covers of the first and second book. Let me know what you think!
Also, I've still been working on editing. I am SO ready to have all of this part of the process done! I'm tired of it and I am wanting to move on to the second book (I'm also trying really hard not to start another project I had a great idea for!).
I've been getting some really good feedback on my book so far. The only negative is that there are quite a few spelling and grammacal errors. Other than that everyone has seemed to really love (or at least really like) Ever Burning.
Thanks to everyone for their support! Hopefully we'll see this in print soon!

The highest praise I could ask for!

So I've had two people finish my book so far and this is one comment someone sent me on my book:

"I think you have the beginnings of a book that has a better plot than Stephanie Meyers' series .... a little of the supernatural ... lots of action ... not bogged down with garbage (sex scenes, etc.). I met my qualification for relaxing fiction ... a plot that catches my interest enough that I don't want to stop reading." -Marilyn Hardy

I seriously couldn't have asked for a better compliment than that! It made my whole day, no, my whole week! Thanks Marilyn! You're awesome!

Getting it out there and some feedback!

So I posted a listing on a few classifieds online asking if anyone would be willing to read my book and critique it for me and to my absolute shock I have already had about 20 replies! Wow! Never would have guessed I would have gotten such a massive response (hopefully that means I wrote a good pitch to sell it to them!). I've gotten one person who has finished it already and said that she really liked it (Thanks Kim!). Woo hoo! I've gotten some hard copies printed out and will distribute them to people who want them. I'm hoping people will not take too long to read it though as I really want to move along with this project. But I am just very glad that people are willing to read it! Anyways, so excited right now! Things are doing good so far!

Changes

So I changed the ending of Ever Burning. It's not earth shattering different or anything. I just took the information that was the old ending and will make that into the first of the second book, Ever Night. I still have a lot of cleaning up to do with this new end but I think that this will make it better. Haven't gotten any response from the people who I emailed the story too but I'm not going to get too worried yet as we just got Christmas over with. I am so ready to move on with this whole process and can't wait to start getting rejected by agents (or hopefully accepted!)... haha

Almost Done!

So I'm getting pretty close to being done with the second draft of my book. It's 232 pages so far but I've still got quite a bit more to write. It'll probably be about 260, 270 pages when I'm done with this draft. Hopefully I can turn it into about 300 when I finish the third draft. I am way stoked to be almost done with this draft and can hopefully get it to people to start reading when we get to Utah over New Years!

Titles

Yes, I know, second blog today. But anyways. I think I'm going to call all my books "The Ever Chronicles". I've decided I really like this name, better than "The Immortal Saga", which is what it used to be. And then all the titles will start with "Ever", like the book covers say, Ever Burning, Ever Night, Ever Horizon, and EverMore. Don't know if these will stay exactly like this but that's what they are for now. Naming books is too hard. I kind of wish I could have someone else do it for me! haha

Book Covers

So here are some book covers I made up. All the titles are VERY subject to change. Let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions!
